What’s Your “Why”… Your Purpose?

What's Your "WHY?"  What's Your Purpose in Life?  


Many of us do not question our "Why" until something happens which grabs our attention, bringing us to our knees at times, and then we ask!  Why?  Why me?  What is the purpose of living?  Sound familiar?

I'm sharing my "Why" to hopefully bring some inspiration to those whom may need it and to a few "friends" who have questioned why I've been so serious about my health and weight. So, grab a cup of coffee and read on!  

Let's go back to 2010.  My fur kids, Gracie (toy poodle) & Kaylee (yorkie) and I moved into a new apartment.  All seemed well until a few months later, when I had my first TIA – Mini Stroke.  I say, "my first" because in the 5 years that I lived in that apartment, I had a total of 6 TIA's – Mini Strokes!  It wasn't until early 2015, after several severe rain storms, that the water damage showed up as cracks in the ceilings and walls. A section of my bedroom wall collapsed and it was full of mold!  I'll spare you the photos that I took.  

After "Management" saw the damage, they let me move into a small, temporary apartment with my fur kids. Of course, I had to sign papers stating that I would not sue them. 

Unfortunately, my poodle, Gracie, who was 13 years old, with a heart condition, suffered mini strokes as well. At the end of November 2015, my sweet Gracie had to be put down.  That was heart breaking enough but the way it happened, hurts me to no end! 

The technician could not prick Gracie's vein with the tranquillizer.  She tried at least 10 times, all the while Gracie screached and tried to bite her!  I didn't know what to do!  I held Gracie so tight.  I was trembling, crying and felt so helpless. I shouted at the technician to go get the vet.  She did.  He didn't even say a word to me.  His exact words to the techinican were: "Give her gas and finish the job!" A few minutes later, Gracie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  💔

My fur kid, Kaylee, who was much younger than Gracie, is doing well, so far.  We moved to our new apartment in June of 2016. It was an adjustment for me.  New area of Montreal, surroundings and people.  Even though I was in pretty good shape, considering the mini strokes, I felt lost at times and I hate to admit it, depressed.  My way of coping was to eat.  I made excuses for not working out on a regular basis.  I didn't care much about myself.  

One day, when I couldn't fit into my jeans, I looked at myself in the mirror and brought out the dreaded scale.  I had gained 20 – 25 lbs, had 2 "muffin tops," or was it really 3…flabby thighs, hips, "bat wings" … you know the rest! I felt I had no choice but to do something about it, or else…and I didn't like the "or else" option! It scared me half to death!

A dear friend shared a link to a free healthy eating plan and I followed it to a tee. You must, however, eat a lot, way too much for me so I'd replace one meal with a shake.  Within 2 – 3 months, I shed the extra pounds and reached my healthy goal weight.

This should have made me happy, right?  NOOO!  I now had loose skin! That made me feel like wrinkled up old gal!! Not funny at all and not the look I was after!

I also received a call from my family doctor, after going for a body scan, stating I had osteoporosis in my lower back and hips!  Needless to say, you know what she recommended…exercise, vitamins and meds.

THAT was enough to motivate me to do better, exercise more, eat healthy and keep my mind occupied with positivity.  Yes, I am working my butt off!  I train 4-6 times per week.  I am finally starting to see muscles in my arms.  My "bat wings" are getting tighter…still have a ways to go.  I've lost inches in my waist and hips. I'm not where I was in 2010 but I'm a heck of a lot closer than I was a year ago!  Is this easy?  NO!  It is so worth it, though! 

In June, I started to paint on canvas.  A new hobby and I love it.  It's a therapy and the time I paint, it takes me away to another world…far away from depression.  Here are a couple of my paintings.

Oh, I'd been blogging for years.  In November of 2015…the same month I lost my dear, Gracie, my blog was hacked.  I hired experts but was told it was impossible!  Everything was gone! I had to start from zero!  Just one more thing that added to my already stressful life at that time.

I enjoy posting on social media, mostly Facebook.  I do post about working out and my progress…And this leads me to one of the reasons why I wrote this blog post.  A "friend" sent me a private message insinuating that I've been "bragging" about my health and training progress and that I was "pushing" my products. It truly hurt me to hear this. 

Yes, I am a distributor and proud to be affiliated with Organo.  I share, as an entrepreneur, what works for me and how it has helped me in my journey.  In addition, I've always emphasized how eating healthy and exercise is essential. It's great to take a product which may give you energy but if you use that energy to eat unhealthy foods, snack, and sit on the couch to watch TV all day…don't expect it to work! I speak from experience and from my heart.  I share what I believe in.

Weed out the naysayers in your life. Ask for help when you need it. Most of all, cherish every moment of this thing called LIFE!  Know your "WHY!"
